Born to Climb: Col de la Bonette - an infinite beauty
Challenging, brutal and with a fantastic view. It’s all about Col de la Bonette – a mountain pass, recognized as the highest paved road in the Alps.
Distance: 24 km / 16 mi
Location: pass in the Alps, France
Avg Grade: 7%
Maximum: 9 %
Elevation: 2,802 m (9,192 ft)
Ascent: 1,589 m (5,213 ft)
The road, 24.1 km long, has an average gradient of 6,6% up to 15%. It reaches its top at the altitude of 2.715 km and brings to your sight an amazing panorama on the whole Mercantour National Park.
Four times this road was included in the Tour de France and in 2009 my brother, Peter, had the chance to ride it. That ride was an inspiration and we decided to design a collection of jerseys that would be named after one of the greatest climbs in the world.
It is not only about climbing. It’s about expanding your own limits, mastering your body and spirit. Once the top is conquered - you realize, the pain was totally worth the reward.
Inspired by the greatness of the pass, for our Climber's collection, we've created - Col de la Bonette Jersey. The apparel is made from 23% Merino wool - extremely light and breathable material, ideal for long and challenging rides.
